Solo Trip
Right from the beginning, God sought to fellowship with His creation, walking with Adam and Even in the Garden. Jesus Himself made a habit of taking time away from the crowds to meet with the father. If you are needing some time away, either on your own, with your spouse, or with a friend, a day hike or overnight backpacking trip might be just what you need. And, if you don’t know what you are doing, that is fine. We’ll do all the set up, and teach you some new skills along the way.
DISCLAIMER!
We want to give you as much information as we can as you consider contacting us about planning a trip. However, we do not have all the background pieces in place to start running trips yet. If you would like to stay in the loop on when those will be available, contact us to let us know, or check back here from time-to-time. If this information is gone, we are in full swing!
What to Expect
Expect both adventure and rest. One key component of these outings is to create space for you to slow down and connect with God. Expect a good chunk of time to be set aside for silence and solitude. But, backcountry travel is, by nature, strenuous. We will work to match the trip to your outdoor experience, but expect to work up a sweat. Nature can also throw curve balls. Despite our best efforts, plans can change and weather can alter the feel of a trip. That doesn’t need to be a bad thing, and sometimes a little discomfort adds to the trip’s value. Expect to be transformed!

Absolutely! We say “solo” but we mean “small.” Solo trips can be a great opportunity to learn to spend time alone with God. But getting out and connecting with a friend or your spouse is equally as important. If you’re looking for a larger group trip though, check out our Group Trips.

Restore Outdoors is aimed at serving the Church and her various ministry arms (ie. pastors, missionaries, and other ministry workers), as well as the congregations and clientele of those churches and ministries. While we can consider doing youth trips, we realized that there are few outdoor ministry programs available to adults, but many youth camps with a variety of outdoor programs available throughout Alberta and Canada. As such, adult or family events will be given priority over youth specific trips.

We try to choose a route that suits your skill level. We want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy getting into the backcountry. However, all backcountry travel can have sections where the trail gets harder. There is no rush! There will likely be challenging parts, but that often leads to a greater sense of accomplishment.

First and foremost, Jesus himself made a habit of heading out to the wilderness to fellowship with the Father. If he thought it was valuable, I think we can trust him. Our world is full of busyness and distractions, and research shows again and again that making a habit of getting outside has numerous benefits in and of itself. Seems we may have been meant to get outside.
-
Currently we are operating in Alberta only. We plan trips in the Kananaskis Provincial Park as well as in the Nordegg area.
-
Trips start at a base cost of $150, and an extra $50 for another person. This covers a park pass for your vehicle, and our event specific operating costs.

The reality of spending time outdoors is that good weather is no guarantee. That does not, however, mean we can’t have a good trip. If the weather is truly too dangerous for us to be out and about in, we can reschedule or try and find a new route last minute. However, a little rain, wind, or snow can add some adventure and even beauty to your trip. As long as the weather allows for safe travel, we can head out.
