Restore Outdoors is a resource for the Church and her ministries.
Our mission is: Restoring hearts through outdoor adventure.
And, our vision is: To see people walking in the fullness of life God has given us.
Throughout human history, God has walked with His people in the arena of creation.
Adam and Eve walked with God in the garden. He lead the nation of Israel through the wilderness. And Jesus Himself regularly retreated to quiet places to fellowship with the Father.
Nature seems to be a place God often uses to connect with and shape His people.
Even modern research affirms the value of getting outside.
It calms the mind and heart, allows the body to relax and heal. Doctors will even prescribe time outdoors for all the benefits it bestows.
It seems God may just have meant for us to spend time in His creation. And, meeting Him there may be just what you need to draw closer to Him.
So, what is Restore Outdoors all about?
On one hand, this is a ministry for ministry workers.
The outdoors is a great place to get away from work, set aside the myriad of distractions that too often rule our lives, and spend some time deeply meeting with and hearing from God.
Setting aside regular times to meet with God is something we know is valuable. Doing it outdoors is a way to amp that up.
It creates awe for God’s power, offers opportunity to slow down, allows us to refocus on what really matters, and leaves us feeling refreshed and restored.
On the other hand, this is a tool for the Church and her ministries.
Aside from a great place to meet with God, the outdoors is a great environment in which to learn and grow as teams. It offers a wide range of options to challenge us in unique ways. And, taking the time to wrestle through those challenges can lead us to developing new skills and perspectives.
Facing challenges, whether natural or orchestrated, in the outdoors and then debriefing those challenges can help you overcome barriers that have held you back, wrestle through discouragements that you may have become stuck in, and see that you can push through to a place of greater wholeness with God’s help.
