Restoring hearts through outdoor adventure
My name is Kevin.
It’s hard to say how much of Restore Outdoors is mine and how much is God’s.
Clearly, it belongs to God. But He is the one who puts things on our hearts. And Restore Outdoors is definitely that for me.
I have loved the outdoors since I was a kid exploring the coulee on my family’s acreage. That morphed into taking a few years of outdoor programming at more than one college, decades of hiking and backpacking with friends as well as with my wife and kids, and helping run a bi-annual adventure race with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
For many years I asked God how He wanted to use my love of the outdoors for His purposes. For many years I didn’t get a clear answer, though ideas came and went.
Now it seems God has led me into a new era of putting that love of the outdoors to use for His kingdom.
I hope that getting you into the backcountry can offer you the same joy and refreshment it does for me, and that Restore Outdoors will be a blessing to you and your ministry.
The story of humanity starts in a garden where God walked with His creation.
God met with Abraham on mountaintops and by trees.
He spoke with Moses on the mountainside.
He led His people through the wilderness and provided for them there.
He reminded Elijah who He was, from the entrance of a cave.
He inaugurated His own ministry on Earth in the wilderness, and in the wilderness fellowshipped with the Father.
The tabernacle and temple were filled with garden images.
And, the story of Scripture ends with a new river flowing and a new tree flourishing in a restoration of the garden.
Restore Outdoors is here to offer you a chance to connect with God and with people in the beauty of His creation, where He has met with and shaped humanity throughout our history.
Restore Outdoors is a Christ-centered ministry, seeking to support the Christian Church and her ministries. As such, we hold to the following doctrinal beliefs:
We believe the Bible, the inspired Word of God, is completely trustworthy, speaking with supreme authority in all matters of belief and practice.
We believe in one God, who exists eternally in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe all people, being created in the image of God, have intrinsic value, but as a result of sin are alienated from God and each other, and therefore in need of reconciliation.
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, born of the virgin Mary, is fully God and fully human; He demonstrated God's love for sinners by suffering the penalty of death in their place, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended to heaven where He intercedes for His people.
We believe all who repent and trust in Jesus Christ alone as Lord and Saviour are, by the grace of God, declared to be right with Him, receiving forgiveness and eternal life.
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will return personally in glory, raise the dead, and judge the world.
We believe all people will rise from the dead, those who are in Christ to enjoy eternal life with God, and those who are lost to suffer eternal separation from Him.
We believe in the Holy Spirit who imparts new life to those who believe in Christ; through His indwelling presence and transforming power, He gives assurance and equips believers for holy living and effective service.
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, the fellowship of all believers, and is commissioned to make disciples of all nations.
